About Camila

Camila Mae Navas is a multidisciplinary artist turned interior designer and founder of the brand Nlumec. The company behind sculptural, modern candles that only get more beautiful as they burn. As a young girl, Camila was struck by the creation of light in physical space, and its play with the observer. This passion drove her to inspire illumination’s design within interior spaces. Nlumec’s concept originated out of this desire to create ambience and light for one’s indulgence.

A San Francisco native, Camila studied art, film, production, and museum curation. She currently resides between NYC and Miami, where she pursues her passion for art, holistic living and a sustainable lifestyle - how to be kind to your body and the earth, while still living as creatively as possible. 

Camila is recruited by international audiences to consult on interior design projects and multimedia art installations. Camila enjoys discovering the universality and global reach of the modern design world. She grew up in the Bay Area, around a culture rich in art and diversity where she was exposed to many inspiring, beautiful architectural styles. She takes inspiration starting in her own home, and growing up visiting museums with her family. Throughout the years, she has developed a comprehensive knowledge of copywriting, brand strategy and art direction. Through her work at respected institutions, such as the Auckland Art Gallery (New Zealand’s most revered museum), she was able to expand on her understanding of abstraction and creation. Following this experience overseas, she worked in an animation and production studio where she was able to further her exploration in design and concept while simultaneously finishing her degree in Art History from Hunter College in New York.

Camila brings her expertise of vision and aesthetic to large brands and publications. She has partnered with many established brands such as; Nordstrom, The New Yorker Magazine, Frame Denim, and Milk Makeup. Camila is invited by such brands to bring her expertise of vision and aesthetic to support them in their creativity and social media marketing. One publication she is particularly proud to share is her work with The New Yorker.  She was selected by the advertisement team to handle the creative direction for the infamous New Yorker tote bag ad rollout. She was also the muse for Frame Denim’s first ever Tik Tok campaign highlighting the brand's iconic jeans while assisting the company in an online presence, enabling them to reach a larger and younger international audience. 


Camila believes that being a female artist is all about uplifting other women, and sharing our journeys to success. Camila concludes that there is a strength in expression through art, utilizing her company and creativity to empower herself and other women in the world of art.
